Air India in Advanced Talks for New Wide-Body Jet Order

Air India is reportedly in advanced negotiations with Boeing and Airbus for the purchase of dozens of new wide-body passenger aircraft. According to sources familiar with the matter, the talks cover an order of 30 to 40 aircraft, although the number could exceed 50. The potential deal is expected to be split between Airbus A350 and Boeing 777X models.
While the final details of the order are yet to be confirmed, a decision is anticipated before the Paris Air Show in June.
This potential order follows Air India’s massive 470-aircraft deal signed in 2023. Last year, the airline also placed an additional order for 100 Airbus jets. However, most of these previous purchases focused on narrow-body aircraft. The new wide-body order aims to enhance capacity and service quality, particularly on international routes.
